Following our success in Thurrock, we went on the road again to campaign for Darren Millar who is seeking re-election to the Welsh Assembly in Clwyd West.
On Wednesday morning the CCF staff team arrived at the sunny shores of Colwyn Bay in North Wales to canvass for Darren. His campaign team gave us a warm welcome as we visited various neighbourhoods in the area to garner support for the Conservative candidate. We were very pleased to see on the doorstep significant backing for Darren to continue his fight to secure real change and a better future in Clwyd West. Darren even treated us to award-winning fish and chips from a famous local establishment in Rhos on Sea!
In 2000/2001, Millar became the youngest serving Mayor in Wales, a record which he understands is as yet unbroken, when he served the township of Towyn and Kinmel Bay. Prior to his election to the Assembly in 2007, Darren has been an accountant working in the construction, care home and telecommunications industries. He has also worked as North West Regional Manager for Open Doors, an international charity serving persecuted Christians and churches worldwide.
Darren currently serves on the opposition front bench as Shadow Minister for Health and Older People. He Chairs the Assembly's influential Public Accounts Committee and sits as a member of the Health and Social Care Committee. Darren is also Chair of the Cross Party Group on Faith, the Cross Party Group on Monetary Reform and the Cross Party Group on the Armed Forces and Cadets, each of which he is a founder member.
Having been brought up in Towyn, Darren now lives in Kinmel Bay with his wife Rebekah and two children, Mary and Toby. He enjoys reading and history, and attends North Coast Church, Towyn.
