On Bank Holiday Monday we returned to Wales to campaign for George Jabbour and Dan Boucher standing for Welsh Assembly in the South Wales West region.
We helped to deliver letters and leaflets to voters, alongside colleagues from Conservatives Outreach. We even had international guests from Bosnia and Sri Lanka who were invited by our Outreach colleagues join us on the campaign trail!
Dan Boucher is a prospective Welsh Conservatives Assembly Member for South Wales West. In the 2011 Assembly Elections he was a Conservative candidate for Swansea East, moving from fourth to second place. He also ran as a Conservative candidate in the Welsh Region in the elections to the European Parliament in 2014.
Dan has been Director of Public Affairs for Christian Action Research & Education (CARE) since 2006. He manages a team that engages with Westminster, the Northern Ireland Assembly Scottish Parliament, Welsh Assembly and European Parliament.
He has a PhD in international relations, is married to Emma and they are both the proud parents of Sam. They live in Morriston in Swansea. Beyond politics, Dan enjoys Welsh history, snorkelling and cinema.
George Jabbour is the Conservative candidate for the target seat of Bridgend where he is facing the First Minister of Wales, Carwyn Jones. He also stood as a candidate in Scotland in the 2015 General Election.
George currently lives in the constituency, but he was born in Syria to a Christian family. He moved to the UK in 2004 at the age of 22. Having obtained a degree in civil engineering from Damascus University, George won a scholarship that enabled him to come to London to study for a postgraduate degree. Following his graduation, George was employed by Goldman Sachs and then started a small business. He was named as one of the 40 under 40 rising stars in investment banking in Britain in 2012.
At our April Prayers for the Nations and Westminster Briefing events, George spoke passionately about his campaigning experience in Wales and how his faith inspires his involvement in politics.
