Syria has been swept into chaos since uprisings began in 2011, during the conflict according to Amnesty International 7.6 million people out of a population of 23 million have been displaced. Since the conflict started in Syria over 200,000 lives have been taken. An astonishing 11 million people have been forced to flee their homes and three million children are no longer in school. The situation in Syria is more complex than most conflicts because of all the groups involved, including Bashar al-Asaads Government, the Free Syrian Army and the Islamic State. This conflict is ongoing with the death toll rising. Thousands of Syrians have vanished since the start of the uprising, with all three groups involved in the kidnappings. Another controversy surrounding the Syrian conflict is the use of chemical weapons by IS and the Assad regime against civilians.
