Our monthly prayer service held at the heart of Westminster open to all CCF members and their guests. Prayers for the Nation is a time to gather to pray for MPs, Peers, Parliamentarians and our Government.
Every month we hear from charity partners on a current campaign or issue that we can pray for or consider taking part in. We are delighted to be welcoming Fiona Bruce MP for Congleton and Helen Dennis, Policy and Advocacy Manager at the Fairtrade Foundation to the Chapel of St Mary Undercroft in March.
About Fiona Bruce MP
Fiona was first elected as Member of Parliament for the Congleton Constituency in 2010. She is the chair of the All Party Parliamentary Pro-Life Group and is a champion of family issues in Parliament.
During her time as a Member of Parliament Fiona focused on championing individual freedoms and human rights, both in this country and abroad. Fiona was a member of Parliament’s International Development Select Committee for several years and chaired the Parliamentary sub-committee overseeing the Independent Commission on Aid Inspections. She currently serves on the Parliamentary Joint-Committee on Human Rights. She is also Chair of the Conservative Party Human Rights Commission.
About the Fairtrade Foundation
Fairtrade is a global movement with a strong and active presence in the UK, represented by the Fairtrade Foundation. Fairtrade works directly with businesses, consumers and campaigners to make trade deliver for farmers and workers across the world.
The Fairtrade foundation was established in 1992 by CAFOD, Christian Aid, Oxfam, Traidcraft, Global Justice Now, and the National Federation of Women’s Institutes. Their work focuses on four key areas: i) Provide independent certification of the trade chain for products and license the use of the FAIRTRADE Mark on products ii) Help in growing demand for Fairtrade products and empowering producers to sell to traders and retailers iii) Find new ways of working with our partners to support producer organisations and their networks iv) Raise awareness of the need for Fairtrade to the public and the significant role of Fairtrade in making trade fair
Join us straight after Prayers for the Nation for the Westminster Briefing, an opportunity for fellowship and for our speakers to expand on their theme in more depth. We invite our contributors to develop their initial theme and to accept questions from CCF members.
